What is Onam?

Onam is a harvest festival which is celebrated by people of all traditions in Kerala. It is celebrated by all communities to bring in the new year by celebrating the bountiful harvest. It is similar to Pongal in the Tamil Tradition. Its a time for feasting, celebration and meeting family. It bring people of all ages together. Its a time to wear a beautiful Kasavu Saree, wear some fancy jewels and celebrate with friends and family with a feast called Sadya which is also one of its main attractions. During the entire period, everyone enjoys many Sadyas and the entire state celebrates Onam in the office, housing associations, family, friends and its across religions and communities. Its just a beautiful time of celebration!
